It was 2 generations ago. The WWII generation voted for it so they wouldn't be evicted from their homes by ever-increasing property taxes.

Buy a clue.The CA legislature gives landlords billions in tax subsides. And landlords weren't buying up CA homes/condos back in the 50s/60s.
