There needs to be space in that as well for history, and values, and beauty.

There are lots of bldgs in SF I'd love to see demolished and replaced with higher density. But that's not what usually happens

you can't because the politics & financing are complicated. It probably doesn't pencil to replace a 2 story w/ a 4 story.
