@BenedictEvans careful what you wish for. Tearing down historic bldgs to make room for ugly new housing changes a city forever -
so does pushing prices up such that almost no-one can afford to live there

can't they do what was done with the Hearst building in NY? Keep the facade but build above it with new materials?
