in what way is ridership number suspect? I've ridden Caltrain daily for 8 years. Almost never have a seat past few yrs.

I support public transit where it works. It is the taxpayer that does not ride it that pays the burden.

Land values already increased because Prop. 13 made land a fantastic, speculative asset in CA.
