Kim-Mai Cutler Retweeted NWS San Diego

When was the last time San Diego had a monsoon?https://twitter.com/NWSSanDiego/status/1295778636264435712 …

Cumulus rapidly developing in the mountains. We're expecting an active monsoon day. Biggest threat will be damaging winds from thunderstorm downbursts, mostly for Inland Empire, High Desert, Banning Pass, & SB/RIV County Mountains, along with flash flooding and lightning. #cawx pic.twitter.com/CVLS75S9Ry

This happens every summer. It's not actually in San Diego it's in the inland mountains by San Diego. It happens when tropical storms happen off the Pacific coast of Mexico. Outside the mountains it just means more humidity and clouds than normal.

Last year: https://timesofsandiego.com/life/2019/09/04/summer-storm-causes-almost-400-lightning-strikes-power-outages-accidents-too/ … SoCal actually tends to get more of this sort of monsoon activity than the Bay area, since it's an effectively an extension of the Desert SW monsoon that happens every year.
