We are spending $40k+ per homeless individual in San Francisco -- and things are getting worse. Now the companies & individuals paying the highest amount of tax are leaving in droves... for Texas, Canada, Florida & other cities. This is about to get a LOT worse.https://twitter.com/michelletandler/status/1286006428457558016 …

San Francisco's sidewalks are filled with illegal tents. Rather than relocate the tents, city gov wants to spend taxpayer dollars *widening the sidewalks.* So... more room for tents? https://sfex.news/32UqJ9x?utm_campaign=meetedgar&utm_medium=social&utm_source=meetedgar.com …

for the 50 millionth time, it's not $40K per person. Prior to COVID, about half that budget was covering another 6,000 permanent supportive housing units for people who would otherwise be homeless, basically doubling the size of our population.

with GDP forecasted to have fallen by 30-50%+ in Q2, it's unsurprising that homelessness would rise, even with a national eviction moratorium (that just expired last week)https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/02/gdp-is-now-projected-to-fall-nearly-53percent-in-the-second-quarter-according-to-a-fed-gauge.html …

did Congress bother to help states or city governments deal with increased homelessness, even though only the federal government can deficit spend persistently while every one has to run balanced budgets & slash? No.https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2020/07/13/cities-states-cares-act/ …

I appreciate the fact checking, Kim-Mai, but what is the solution here? Many believe that the compassionate approach isn’t working and that homelessness and crime are worse than most other cities.

Got it, half the budget spent housing 6,000 homeless people, the rest spent on the other homeless people.
