When you encounter a virus, antibodies to tackle that virus take many days to come up, grow in numbers, and after their work is done, drop to low levels. Hi Kim, this is something the scientific community continues to actively study. Our antibody tests detect the IgG antibody, which is a protein that the body produces in the late stages of infection and may remain for up to months and possibly years after a person has recovered.
