Made the mistake of watching The Patriot for the first time. They really worked HARD to lie about the main character being a slaveholder. They claimed he had “free” Black people laboring on his South Carolina plantation in 1776. What? How did this even make it to theatres?

One of the first scenes in the movie depicts enslaved Black people smiling when the slaveholder arrives back to the plantation. What? This movie has to be one of the biggest propaganda films made.

Spike Lee, amplified by Roger Ebert, raised a lot of these concerns about THE PATRIOT when it came out! https://www.theguardian.com/film/2000/jul/06/news.spikelee …https://twitter.com/ddiamond/status/1279893726010191872 …
