Those ideals weren’t anti-racist from the start. Or maybe words have no meaning. This makes for an updated version of our Founding myth but it’s still just a Nobel Lie

Hey Matt I want to clarify something.
@Noahpinion is concerned you may want to abolish America. Is this true or not?3 replies 0 retweets 4 likes -

Note that I don't think people like Matt want to abolish America now, only that if Trump and the white supremacists remain in power for a long time, they are likely to conclude that there is no alternative.

What do you think the other paths would be?

1) Keep trying to unseat them without abolishing America 2) Do nothing and accept their rule 3) Move out

It seems like the range of possibilities inside 1) is vast. Like would us switching to a different democratic governing system still nominally called America be abolishing America? Or is ending EC abolishing America?

Well how could we switch to a different system with Trumpism in power?

Probably would require a vast, broad-based political movement. And perhaps people with a lot of vested interest or wealth in the existing system would strategically frame the motives of this movement as “abolish America” to protect those interests?

The vast broad-based political movement would have to choose to try to win within the current system and then change the system, or abolish the system.

It’s also possible there are multiple interconnected flanks of the movement and an “abolish” flank of the movement makes the “win within the system” part of the movement much more attractive to everyone.
