Which is such bullshit- every protest I was at people were social distancing and wearing masks. The organizers brought masks for the people who didn't have any (which ended up getting donated to local homeless). I've seen pictures of SoCal beaches- the issue isn't the protests.

So there are a few important things to note here: 1) The statewide % positive tests has more or less held steady and some of CA's increase in cases is attributable to increased testing—BUT 2) If you look by county it's very uneven with some counties doing well, others not so much

Alameda County, San Francisco City/County, and Berkeley (which has its own sovereign health department—long story) all appear to be doing relatively well with % positive. (The recent uptick in % positive in SF is likely because most recent data aren't complete.)pic.twitter.com/983eqcWj3w
