No it’s not. I know you can’t control everyone and maybe in this case they couldn’t control a splinter group. But there are certain very obvious right wing media traps that are avoidable w foresight.

I actually admire Grant, but I'm not gonna complain about his statue coming down. I just hope this episode leads to a better evaluation of the "great men" we pay too much attention to.

BTW, Grant's brief time as a slaveholder is a pretty good object lesson in systemic racism and classism. Hopefully, people will be motivated to read about it.
