I haven’t been to SF in months. Friends who drove through today described a pretty grim picture. Has it devolved to the point where basic public safety is in question? (Asking genuinely here, I am out of the loop.)

Which goes to say shelter and stock of low-income matters. If we didn’t have our budget, SF’s population would be 2X its pre-COVID size.

It’s also pretty neighborhood dependent. Hayes Valley, Castro, Mission much worse — haven’t noticed much on the West side. Either way, it not like chaos in the streets, but I am worried we are going to enter a downward spiral as our tax revenue declines leading to worse services

I have not noticed any change in Hayes, Castro, or the mission. But i do agree with concern about the tax base. Municipal budgets are being blown up across the country.
