The hardware/software divide, and whether the biz models and attitudes of one apply in the other, is definitely one of those sore points about tech that are under-discussed, IMO. And one where the techies come off as flat-footed, if pressed. Hardware is, well, hard.

Not just hardware. Software meeting labor. Software meeting education. Software meeting surveillance, the military and on and on and on.
