Im happily staying in America for the long-term Despite all our huge problems and our government truly sucking... I still believe in American exceptionalism, especially because we can criticize our government w/o suddenly "disappearing" Happy to take over this VC's dealflow :)https://twitter.com/lpolovets/status/1269023290493788161 …

This sounds like a good Hereticon talk topic :) Kidding aside, I strongly believe in US exceptionalism too, but the more anchors society imposes, the less exceptional our exceptionalism will be.

Europe, China, Australia all have their own anchors as well We're still the best place on Earth to do true innovation in almost every field 1 shitty president isn't enough to shift that, we'll fix up immigration policies asap hopefully

How about a shitty president, high civil unrest that's amplified by an ineffective lockdown, an increasingly strict immigration policy, tech companies shifting more and more toward remote, and an incredibly high cost of living in core tech hubs? + like 20 more things =\

How about a shitty president that tests our democracy's immune system and makes it stronger? How about civil unrest that leads to real changes and confronting our racist past? How about corona massively accelerating adoption of tech and investment in biotech innovation?

I think this assumes the country elects someone else. I'm not sure this country can survive a second term as a democracy.
