I think a lot of people burning things in the middle of a dual pandemic and depression think it’s all going to spring back up suddenly after it’s done. But insurance may not pay for it, many of these venues may not ever get rebuilt, many of these cities will see people leave.

What are *you* doing to understand the pain causing these riots? What are *you* doing to relieve or address the pain that is causing these riots?

Is that really causing the riots though? There are groups protesting peacefully, and there are different groups rioting and looting. The people who want rioting seem to be less motivated by racial injustice, and just acting now to take advantage of distracted policing.

> Do you think I have the power to stop these riots or something? I think you have the power to stop encouraging and justifying them. As do we all. Peaceful protests are good & necessary (albeit complicated by social distancing). Riots damage communities, encourage crackdowns.

Balaji -- I have a lot of respect for your pandemic coverage. But you seem so eager to condemn riots (and rightly so) but I'm not seeing the same degree of passion behind condemning the police brutality and institutional racism that led us here.
