'Tis a good riddance. Palantir is every bit as evil as its name implies. (For those not in the know, in Tolkien's Middle Earth, Palantiri were "seeing stones" that allowed remote viewing and telepathic communication. Sauron corrupted them and used them to spy and sow madness.)
