for now, suicides are increasing at alarming rates. and if you compare below below age of 80, it is much worse than the virus.

Also the second and third order effects of the lockdown are much more medium and longterm in nature so the damage it’s causing is just now starting to show up.

yes. we traded short term optimization for severe long term consequences that will be dramatically worse, especially below the age of 80.

I supported locking downs in March and April. Didn’t think we had a choice given the lack of data and testing infrastructure like South Korea. But keeping things locked down will cost many lives. Need to start cautiously reopening.

But ... we are? We’re almost to Phase 3. It’s a straw man to say we’re not reopening.https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/california/newsom-ca-days-away-from-plan-to-reopen-barbershops-salons-churches/2295305/ …

And also even in re-opened states, restaurant traffic is down 75+%. Consumers of their own volition are choosing not to go.https://www.opentable.com/state-of-industry …

that is fine. consumers should choose their own risk tolerance in life. (and their risk exposure varies). I don’t ever ride a motorcycle....

Motorcycle accidents don’t have >R2-3, don’t grow exponentially and can’t crash medical systems as we’ve seen in Italy, Spain, Wuhan, New York City, New Orleans and now Brazil, Alabama, etc.

that is ludicrous. the medical system has not crashed even in NYC. And there was zero chance of this in CA. also SIP doesn’t even work: https://twitter.com/carlquintanilla/status/1263170459450978314?s=21 …https://twitter.com/carlquintanilla/status/1263170459450978314 …
