I have no idea! I imagine it would be hard to advance to management as a remote employee if there is still an HQ with executives there.

That’s my thinking too. It potentially entrenches a sort of Praetorian executive class that if anything plucks extramurally for new talent...from the 101/280 corridor of similarly placed Praetorians at peer/competitor firms

Great question ... and I suspect you'll two structures emerge. Remote first orgs have to have flat structures to function effectively, whereas conventional companies going part-remote will continue legacy org structures. Which means talented execs will escape to remote-first.
