I just don’t get it - none of the right calls on the virus fall on traditional left/right lines, and the subsequent reframing of competence/incompetence as a partisan thing is crazy. China already proved you can get credit for hard pivoting to doing the right thing.

The GOP has a comparatively effective propaganda operation, they could totally pull this off, they’d get loads of credit, and lots less folks would die as well.

Prediction: If (when) Covid-19 takes off in places that are reopening / not taking it seriously, the Trump regime will come after the places that did the right things, blame them for "allowing" the virus to get into the "heartland," and/or demand our hospitals pick up the slack.

More likely prediction. Trump advisors predict 2m Americans will die. When we lose 150,000 Americans Trump will be a hero for saving hundreds of thousands of lives.
