That’s not a valid argument against the Swedish system in U.S. U.S. government to cover all uninsured COVID19: https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/trump-administration-says-it-will-pay-hospitals-for-treating-uninsured-covid-19-patients/2020/04/22/3df5fbb4-84b5-11ea-878a-86477a724bdb_story.html … All U.S. carriers to waive COVID19 related copays & deductibles: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/29/cigna-and-humana-waive-coronavirus-treatment-costs.html … For COVID19 we effectively have universal healthcare.

You can make a pretty fair argument that pandemics in general, and COVID19 in the particular, make a strong case for implementing universal care, but you cannot make a sound argument of: Swedish system won’t work here because of universal healthcare.

The underlying health of US is significantly worse. Only 12% of Americans are considered to have good metabolic health, 42.4% have obesity and 81 million have multiple chronic illnesses. Sweden's national health service means people are more likely to be healthy & survive Covid19

Also Sweden has the worst death figures in Northern Europe now.

How does health care matter (may be a bit, in generally having a healthy population) ?
-
I do agree that dems are losing the focus here - at least seems that way in California, certainly in bay area. I cannot understand what exactly we are waiting for to re-open slowly - certainly with lot of precautions.
