Attn: VCs mad at @londonbreed about capping fees that delivery platforms can charge restaurants instead of the fact that there was an outbreak at a homeless shelter that may kill dozens of people & overwhelm our still stable yet precarious medical system.https://twitter.com/Jason/status/1248800857463746560 …

maybe if she were focused on the correct problem she wouldn’t screw up other ones too. and when people can’t get delivery due to her stupidity it will interfere w social distancing and make more people sick.

Food delivery service is ridic right now. Here’s Postmates for a ~$12 meal here in LA. Taxes are $1 (hidden) leaving an almost 50%!!! markup for delivery and service fee. In a statewide quarantine, how is this not price gouging? This is what VCs bashing SF decision are protectingpic.twitter.com/76r6JvVm3S

These business have been unprofitable for some time, if they don’t charge the right amount now the demand will burn through their cash reserves and they will go away.

Not only that, but you should factor in that people are not riding in their cars, spending on gas, and going to the store waiting in lines. Cost of safety + what you save if you order correctly. If people are smart, they can order in bulk.

The day we got locked down is the day delivery stopped being a luxury and become a public health necessity. All bets are off folks! I’m sorry if you’re GP/LP in a delivery based co. You share the pain of restaurants and their staff now

I spent ten hours a day thinking about and working in service of small restaurants. I know what I’m talking about. I’m not a VC or a LP.
