One of SF's shelters reported its first positive COVID-19 case at the Division Circle Navigation Center. They are in good condition and are in an isolation hotel. We need to get people inside and out of congregate settings. Everyone's health is intertwined.

I'm told that the main impediment to getting people into to individual hotel rooms is not that we can't achieve the scale or actually do it -- we can! It's a logistics question of making sure we can get that # of people inside once we're already contracted & paying for the rooms.

Ah OK, here's an answer. FEMA won't reimburse to put every person without housing into a safe, isolated place so SF would have to pay for it itself and is facing a $1.1 to $1.7 billion deficit.https://twitter.com/StreetSheetSF/status/1245812756051136513 …

Epidemics exploit fault lines in our societal structure. I'm assuming the U.S.'s CFR will be much higher and our health systems will be under much more stress because we have a half-million people without housing and lack of universal access to healthcare. We could change this.
