Mayors that listen to their public health officers instead of going to the gym on the same day they close schools?https://www.politico.com/states/new-york/albany/story/2020/03/28/de-blasios-coronavirus-crisis-1269480 …

Uh, Singapore and Seoul didn’t do lockdowns. they have competent govs that quickly instituted massive testing and contact tracing. Lockdowns are a blunt instrument. When grownups are in charge (SG/SK) you can use their “surgical” approach and avoid destroying the economy.

If you want to enable density critics, so be it. But given federal failings, grownups did what grownups had to do in the Bay Area and at least so far we are showing slower case growth — even slower than far less dense parts of the United States right now.https://www.politico.com/states/california/story/2020/03/27/california-saw-dense-housing-near-transit-as-its-future-what-now-1269263 …

I cannot deal with everyone continually shouting "density," it's a singular factor, not the ultimate predictor.

Is there any American city that is more like nyc that hasn’t been hit bad? sf and nyc are very different cities lots of tech companies reacted a lot sooner than the gov and sf is dominated by those companies

Amount of workforce in SF able to wfh with virtually no impact is absolutely a big factor. Lots of individuals and companies were optionally wfh well before shelter-in-place to a degree that is much less viable for most people/cities/industries.
