Triage. First stop the bleeding. SF city infrastructure and “services” are stressed beyond capacity. Take a moment to regroup and plan for sustainable growth. And get the housing thing sorted. We’re at capacity because there is no model to accommodate more people.

This isn't stopping any bleeding. It's forcing out the current businesses when people who can pay more arrive and there isn't enough space.

City services are stretched far beyond capacity and between AirBNB hotels, people who’d live elsewhere if not for tech shuttles, and luxe condos where rich people are parking cash, there isn’t even housing for people who already work here. If businesses GET to move, good for ‘em

You’re not gonna see bidding wars for SF office space. That’s just not going to happen going forward. They’re making plans to leave, not to stay. Twitter’s even flatly stated this, and they’re the benchmark. Stripe, same thing. And many others.

failing to correct perverse incentives and failing to stop developers / business landlords externalizing every expense on residents and city services.

you have it backwards. Residents' taxes don't keep up with the cost of operating the city and its associated programs because of Prop. 13. Business tax revenue offsets that lack of revenue and allows SF to fund all kinds of bells and whistles that San Jose & Oakland can't.

Do you want to be spending 20% of SF's general fund on unfunded pension obligations and to have lower staffing levels than 20 years ago like San Jose? Be my guest.
