How long do you think widespread social distancing measures will be used to reduce COVID-19's impact on public health systems?

While conferences & large scale events are being cancelled, I’m not convinced we will get to the mandatory cancellation phase required for social distancing to take shape. Too many disproportionate impacts and economic pains politicians aren’t willing to take across the board

I think Austin’s Mayor is an exception rather than a rule, driven by private corporations taking the lead in social distancing measures. But the impact to the local economy will be more closely considered by politicians who are risk averse. All of this is clearly a hot take*

How many people (or QALYs) have to die before we accept significant financial slowdown and economic loss? And if 5% non compliance with quarantine measures negates them, is mandatory enforcement an "authoritarian regime"?
