Don’t vote for Prop E. Sounds good, but is actually bad. https://twitter.com/anniefryman/status/1232848065565839360?s=21 …https://twitter.com/anniefryman/status/1232848065565839360 …

prop E will kill the possibility of small start-ups getting new space, as the wealthier companies will eat up remaining space because nothing new is going to get built. How can politicians be this dumb? end result. more concentration of large tech space, and less new housing
-
They aren't being dumb. They like the result of pushing smaller companies out of the city in the hopes that their employees will also move out.

As
@nextdoorsv has pointed out, even if banning office space causes the Type 2 Gollum NIMBYs to take a haircut, the average one won’t really care because they’ve still got a $2M appreciation instead of $3M *and* they win on keeping people out of their precious city.Thanks. In an ideal world, dense office and residential keep rents low and allow people use public transit, but considering our resistance to housing in city centers and suburbs, isn't dispersing offices just as much as houses a way to keep rents and traffic congestion low?

Dreaming about an alternate world where Google is in Walnut Creek and FB is in Livermore, away from Apple.

We'll get what a couple million new feet of office space with the streamlining built into Prop E and that's it right?

I"m voting no. These kinds of planning decisions should not be via ballot proposition.
