A huge experiment. A few possibilities: 1) They really have it under control 2) They don’t have it under control, but want to cover it up as they did in Wuhan in December 3) They don’t have it under control and can’t cover it up as it breaks out again at undeniable scale

Maybe there’s some other option (4), like one of their fast-track clinical trials is really working or they have confidence in a new vaccine. We’ll all see soon.

I dunno. I can’t that I feel like I have a good handle on the reality of the Chinese domestic situation, despite reading everything I could get my hands on.

I saw a good analogy once. The US public thinks about politics through what journalists publish. But journos themselves must traffic in unofficial rumors/hearsay/etc prior to writing a story. The Chinese public’s relation to their politicians is like the latter. All unofficial.
