downtown SF is a good 19 minutes from 4th & King during rush hour on Muni, if you consider time for Caltrain to Muni connection

I believe a lot of it has to do with time of founding. San Francisco got big when it was very expensive to build from what I understand.

This seems wrong. Bullet clatrain takes you to downtown SJ in about 90 minutes. But the point still stands.
