Just how crazy is San Francisco real estate? I moved into my SF apartment in the mission a little over a year ago at $4200. Now the building is telling me that after assessing the market rate, the same 1 bedroom apartment is now worth $6250... What!

Might want to check with
@davidchiu or@hillaryronen’s district staff to see if they can refer you to legal resources as this might be a violation of#AB14821 reply 0 retweets 18 likes -

exemptions are: -buildings under 15 years old, rolling date -single family homes not owned by corporations -duplexes where your landlord occupies a unit -homes where landlord has already notified you that the rental is not covered by AB 1482

After doing some research I found out that it is a live work unit in a “urban mix use” building. It used to be a factory that was converted. The building got its certificate of occupancy in 1999. First floor has/had lots of offices, including a Charlotte Russe HQ

is it a condominium or single-family home with no other unit on the parcel?

you can register as an "apartment owner" and check compliance here: https://caanet.org/ab1482/ I think it's covered. It doesn't sound like what they're doing is legal.

Although helpful, this thread is nuts. It shouldn’t be this complicated to 1. Live in an affordable apartment 2. Not get screwed
