Jill then launched into a bit about media coverage, and how biased it has been, and not in their favor. She noted that the LA Times has one openly biased reporter (guessing his name rhymes with Shmiam Shmillon) who has done a terrible job of analyzing the bill.

Next, we learn Sen. Bradford of LA is their main target on the appropriations committee. Jill notes that he's been "extremely squirrely," and that no one knows where he stands. He represents Watts, Gardena, Hawthorne, etc.

Jill also says that these communities could be decimated by SB50 via what she calls "luxury 4-plexes." She claims that these 4-plexes "won't have families in them" and that this provision in the bill is "a real attack on family-sized groupings of people."

Next we learn Sen. Ben Allen is a target. Per Jill, he "used to be an attorney for the UN, is a very smart man, his own person, and is waiting to hear from city officials in district so he can tell Tony Atkins that they don’t want this bill.

Livable California is worried about Chair Atkins, as she "takes a punishment approach, we saw this when she stripped Wieckowski from the Housing Committee chairmanship." (Should be noted that Senator Beall was stripped of his chairmanship, not Wieckowski).

Rick Hall chimes in, affirming Jill's erroneous comments about Sen. Wieckowski being stripped of a position he never held. Says that if Atkins tells Sen Portantino to release the bill from the committee, he will.

Jill notes that she likes Wieckowski as he’s "not as crazy as Wiener, still very pro-housing though", but that it was wrong to replace Wieckowski with Wiener.

Jill goes on to say that Akins needs to be pressured, as she’s "gambling with tens of thousands of people's lives." Unclear what exactly she means here. Maybe she meant "views" instead?

More strategy: they know Portantino doesn’t like bill, but he will put it onto the floor if he gets pressured. They have to pressure Bradford, but apparently he's running unopposed, which is problematic for them. He's "not on the griddle."

SF update from Rick Hall: Protested Scott Wiener's campaign kickoff yesterday, then went to support Jackie Fielder (his primary challenger). Mayor Steven Scharf of Cupertino (!!!) came up to join the Jackie event, met with/had good convos with people including 2 SF supes.
