I’d argue the Texas House is in play and if Dems won that then the new districts could be drawn to lean Dem or, at least, be competitive but the idea that Texas is on the cusp of becoming a true swing or even a blue state is a fantasy.

Even if it were to change TX's politics, IMO that is still a very poor justification for California's nimbyism.

I think domestic in-migration helps keep Texas red.
@Noahpinion , did you write about that? -
I didn't, but I read about it. It's hard to say what effect they have.

I disagree on this point-- as long as they have anything resembling elections, greater numbers of Dems and POC can help combat the voter suppression and overwhelm it. Did you see this article about AZ?https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/21/opinion/sunday/latinos-arizona-battleground.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share …

There is no question the
#GOP will fight the shift towards a blue voter base as they have always done, but the numbers will soon be impossible for them to overcome. Perhaps not 2020, but in-migration + growing Hispanic population will turn Texas blue sooner rather than later. -
