Protest and media scrutiny may be the only kinds of Voice that exist in what are effectively monopolies with no democratic accountability. Media scrutiny, hearings, etc. have been what has pushed companies to make at least cosmetic changes over the last few years.

I think these are independent things. You can be happy or unhappy w/the status quo, you can be happy or unhappy w/how status quo evolves, and you can take action or not depending on your priorities and whether you think you could make a difference.

I see no conflict between taking action to improve things even though you're happy, or not taking action even if you're unhappy. To me the decision to act is more about the ROI of taking action and the opportunity costs.
