Stealing stuff from your neighbors is bad and the idea that somehow we shouldn’t hold a repeat offender accountable because they’re poor and living in SF is just ludicrous. Just no. This is the kind of asinine framing that makes people despise journalism.

That’s a lot to interpret from what I said. But in any case, voting in Tuesday’s district attorney’s election seems like a more effective way to voice that particular opinion than yelling at me on Twitter.

The justice system(laws and DA) failed everyone here. If she would’ve been sentenced earlier with forced rehab while incarcerated, then she would’ve had best chance to recover and get back her daughter. Ring provided an early chance for intervention.

Eh, it was a weird story. The "porch pirate" thread does a really bad job of eliciting sympathy for the thief, and then pivots to bit on how the cops and amazon are building adhoc surveillance networks, even though no such network was involved in part A.

He missed it somewhat with the rich person stealing thing, but on a diff note- the Theranos example kinda bugged me cause that was less theft and more a bunch of rich old mostly conservative men trying to buy immortality. They bet and deserved to lose. Prob better examples
