The US has a deficit on $1T on revenue of about $4T. That's a net margin of -25%.

It's not like a company or household. However, here's the really worrying thing: cumulative debt over the last decade = cumulative debt roughly. The US has been funding all of its growth through borrowing when you really get down to it..
