Less tall vegetation in SoCal that can fall on power lines?
Along distribution lines? Maybe. But it doesn’t matter if winds are blowing down distribution lines/poles and pieces of taller transmission towers. All you need is a spark.
Agreed- having lived in both places, the vegetation in both is problematic. Maybe less fuel mass in SoCal but it’s drier and less fire resistant so I think the risks aren’t very different? The difference is policy, corporate culture, and PGE ass-covering.
