Much of Stripe likely lives in SF, same likely true of whoever moves into their space. So the SF housing pressure increases while SF otherwise gets no benefits from the company operating in it. Seems… bad.

Wherever homelessness appears out of control in America, high housing costs almost surely lurk. Fixing this means dealing with a lack of supply, created by over-burdensome zoning regulations and an unwillingness to overcome entrenched local interests. https://www.economist.com/united-states/2019/10/17/homelessness-is-declining-in-america?fsrc=scn/tw/te/bl/ed/urbanmythshomelessnessisdeclininginamericaunitedstates … pic.twitter.com/kPTOitYY2N

Well, *some* Stripe people will move to SSF, so we should also get some displacement of lower income people there too!

Those saying SF could end its housing crisis by not approving more offices/jobs seem to have forgotten that South Bay employees will live in SF. @SFyimby @SFHAC

On present trends, SFBay will, I think, go down as case study in one of greatest squanderings of economic opportunity in history.
