From a friend, of a friend, who works at PG&E -- said that we should expect more of these "preemptive blackouts" & folks are encouraging others to buy generators. Unrelated, "Preemptive Blackouts" is a term I may keep using.

Yes, but this way, PG&E removes itself from being the cause of a generator fire, pushing blame to the homeowner

Solar with home battery is an option but the setup is expensive, $10000+ to start with and few can afford it.

The locations are different, though. The wildfire danger is mostly in the areas where the transmission lines are. The power outages are hitting urbanized places like San Jose (because the transmission lines supply San Jose). A generator in San Jose isn't causing much fire risk
