Breaking character for a moment, I'm genuinely not sure how to interpret this: 1. Is this racist in that it implies that there's too many tech workers from Asia? or 2. Is it just regular hate of techies? Things were so much simpler back in the dayhttps://pando.com/2014/03/31/techie-scum-me-attends-anti-tech-protest-meeting-does-not-die/ …

I personally haven't seen any of the hate against tech workers from Asia many (mostly white) tech workers have been talking to me about on Twitter, in San Francisco native/long-time-local circles decrying tech. I'd be open to any examples, but haven't seen any myself.

Usually they just say they don't like that tech workers are wealthier than they, are obnoxious because they tend to be younger, and have displaced people who are multi-generational in this region or at least lived here a long time.

In the absence of examples, it looks like white tech workers using Asian tech workers as a political and argumentative shield. But if there are examples, i'd be open to discussing them.

Can I just say that as a person who grew up in Silicon Valley, we didn’t really have “tech bros” until the last cycle/cycle-and-a-half. Tech was way too arcane in the 1980s/1990s to attract bros. “Tech bro” is a term that only really took off after 2010.pic.twitter.com/G5tm1fSs3Q

What's your point? The joke was directed at tech bros. That was the point of the joke. It wasn't talking about any other subset of tech workers.
