From the article: “The thing is, the Carpenters are alone in this. All the other local trade unions have been resisting housing factories, if not actively fighting them.”

One might do a story on why the carpenters’ union is so embracing of change, has built a giant training facility in Nevada, etc., why they take business from all the other trades who don’t.

The Carpenters made what’s called a wall-to-wall contract with Factory OS. The workers will be trained to do all aspects of the work, not just carpentry: electrical, plumbing, and everything else. That means the owner doesn’t need to hire those workers from each local trade union

Take a minute to think about an automobile assembly plant. How many different unions exist inside? How many different collective bargaining agreements? (answer: 1) What's the *mutual* advantage of replicating the model of multiple CBAs on site-built projects inside mnfctrg shops?
