the postwar order of the last 70 years wasn't achieved via human spiritual evolution. we've been frozen in place bc america has applied the most powerful military in history to policing the world. that's not sustainable. no one is prescribing change, simply saying it's inevitable

So why acquisition? Why not more divestiture for greater experimentation? I would think atomization would confer more benefits and tech could reduce transaction costs, especially if you’re thinking about blockchain

Completely fair point. But it’s hard to freeze a political order in amber forever. World is so different from 1945. Asia has risen, West in decline. Re: Greenland, was just a prompt to discuss fact that China is buying territory all over the world via Belt & Road. Be well!

I'd also contend that framing it as M&A creates the notion of being a mutually beneficial decision. What's likely to occur is imperialism in its most basic form of taxation without representation. The experience of PR/DC/Guam/Mariana Islands should not be celebrated.

This is a super Westernized take on history. Borders generally haven't been stable and mutually agreed upon in several reasons of the world. If anything the story is about using hard power vs. soft power to do so now; less caring about the trappings of diplomacy
