A reminder that after 3 years of reforms at the CA state level to make it easier to build backyard units, one of the “naturally most affordable” kinds of housing to build, @RafaelMandelman is trying to make it harder again by adding setback requirements: https://sfgov.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=3839607&GUID=80702600-9249-41E4-92FC-91EF29D77B4D …https://twitter.com/jenny_schuetz/status/1157273274784632832 …

But in all seriousness, I’m not sure there’s a 1/1 comparison btwn
#MoCoMD and#SF on this slice of the national Housing debate.#MoCoMD is far more economically & ethnically diverse than SF, and it’s county board genuinely attempts to achieve balanced solutions on tough topics.1 reply 1 retweet 5 likes -

This is a modestly pro-density measure that increases the required rear-yard setback only for single family homes and allows more second unit rear yard cottages on through lots and corner lots. Your aim is off.

Can you please provide clear data and evidence from
@sfplanning on how many more lots this makes more/less feasible? I understand that the most recent set of amendments effectively cut out a lot of lots in residential transit-oriented neighborhoods.2 replies 1 retweet 35 likes -
“Understand?” Again, your aim is off. Check your facts and your targets, and step away from your phone.

Rafael is just responding to his own reflection in his phone’s screen. Mr Mandelman you need to turn your phone screen on first.

Egh, let's not harsh on him like that. I just want to make sure his ADU legislation doesn't end up making lots of lots infeasible after this round of amendments.
