@Mayor_Steinberg and @mridleythomas are pushing right to shelter which will greatly increase costs and do nothing to end homelessness. There is also some really funky language that looks like they're going to force people 1/
How do you cover the flipside of what this implies for rents/mortgages, etc etc for people to keep up?

Even if there's no big subsidy program, that doesn't imply a need for new carceral institutions. Why not simple permission to exist, maybe in cheap/makeshift/temporary housing that is self-governed, or on a plain landlord-tenant basis like a hotel or trailer park? Why poorhouses?

I get what you’re saying but more people experiencing homelessness are dying in LA than NYC of hypothermia bc we have tolerate a system where a tiny % of people get permanent housing while everyone else is left outside.https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-homeless-hypothermia-20190217-story.html …
