The bottom line is in order to get a political win,
@Mayor_Steinberg and @mridleythomas are pushing right to shelter which will greatly increase costs and do nothing to end homelessness. There is also some really funky language that looks like they're going to force people 1/
Probably because they don’t think they have enough political will to create a sufficiently large enough housing subsidy system. They can’t even get the political will to allow for housing that requires no political subsidy.

Residential real estate values go up in SF alone by more than $100B a year in aggregate. Imagine what this number is across the entire state.https://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/blog/real-estate/2016/01/san-francisco-home-values-zillow.html …

How do you cover the flipside of what this implies for rents/mortgages, etc etc for people to keep up?

That still doesn't explain why ostensible Democrats would also want to force people without their own housing to live inside of local poorhouses on pain of -- what? *More* imprisonment?

You should write Steinberg! I know the last time this was discussed several mos ago, it got walked back to a bill that streamlined shelter approvals across the state (which was killed anyway).
