The bottom line is in order to get a political win,
@Mayor_Steinberg and @mridleythomas are pushing right to shelter which will greatly increase costs and do nothing to end homelessness. There is also some really funky language that looks like they're going to force people 1/

"Forcing local govts to act" seemed the main point that interested one of our local anti-poors regulars the other night when I engaged with him to test reaction on this proposal. But it would be just as possible to mandate housing or shelter without the carceral part of the plan.

In these times I do not get why Democrats would advocate for a new carceral system that would make people's lives even less free in place of a supportive housing subsidy system that could open up possibilities for the same people instead.
