This @SFjkdineen story about how a 425-unit project near Caltrain was killed with a single city council vote is infuriating.https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/1-council-vote-kills-San-Bruno-housing-plan-near-14112359.php …

Does San Bruno collect payroll taxes on those workers?

Not all the companies are pro-housing. Genentech & other biotech firms deserve more attention and shaming for their NIMBY lawsuit blocking any housing east of 101 in South San Francisco: https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Developer-puts-Oyster-Point-housing-plan-on-hold-12795497.php …

Gosh, it's almost as if this were a collective action problem. Maybe cities—having collectively demonstrated inadequate action, bad faith, or open hostility toward new housing—shouldn't be tasked with solving this state-wide problem.
@cayimby@penforeveryone -
What should cities be tasked with then if they can’t properly handle land use? It’s clear that they have failed, but what else can they do properly?

what I really don’t understand about the logic is how the 70k jobs don’t affect traffic, but 425 units right on public transit do
-
70k jobs means more tax $$$ for my city and no new voters getting to disagree with me about how it's spent.

“Pollek said ‘traffic and parking are already idiotic’ in the neighborhood.” I’m sure that’s true, but not at all in the way the speaker means.
