Why is it either or? We will be discussing housing policy and “ending homelessness” for the next 50-100 years. In the meantime can we get the homeless a bed to sleep in so they’re not getting sick and dying on the streets.

Yes, you're right. NYC needs to do more to permanently house their homeless, but their homeless are actually SHELTERED, which means they aren't living in 3rd world-like conditions the way homeless are in San Francisco and Los Angeles, according to the UN.
