Social democracy with an enlarged welfare state, like in Europe, amid a larger market economy is one thing and very different than the lived experiences of all the refugees I grew up around, who lost everything.

also usually the socialist housing suggestion at solely the municipal level is usually a bad faith argument. If you say only non-market housing can be built going forward in SF, that actually perversely protects financial returns on all existing homes.
