There absolutely is a housing shortage in the Bay Area, and anyone serious about solving it should be a socialist. The private housing market serves only to profit off of real estate not to meet human need for housing as a right.
well what does socialism is the solution to Bay Area's housing crisis mean? Does it mean you're actively expropriating all privately held residential homes? Or only non-market housing can be built in the future (which perversely enhances financial returns on existing real estate)

Well, I don't know what OP was thinking of when she made the original post. After giving all of two minutes of thought to the question, I can imagine a version of the Million Programme, funded by adequate taxation of big tech.
