ahh so now we’re pivoting from “I, teacher, am in thrall to Big Boomer Agenda” to “I, teacher, don’t know how housing works”

OK, carry on with wanting to spend more money for less affordable housing....

I’ve said I favor the proposal w/ stronger affordability mandates but think if the mandates are sufficiently strong then DRs must be done away with, which puts me at odds with both proposals. is this the best the urbanist pro-Breed side has, to call UESF corrupt or dumb?

I hope the other supes at least come around to where you are. The refusal to even consider removing appeals has been the most frustrating part personally

totally! not holding my breath about compromise but at least I can have a critical view of the proposal I lean towards. what I’m appalled by is this “UESF are boomer patsies” self-justification and to be upfront, it’s making me VERY salty rn

I don’t act like mod-leaning unions (building trades, for example) are selling themselves out by say, supporting SB50. they’re acting in their workers’ interests! to insinuate like that UESF is either stupid or corrupt doesn’t give me ANY confidence in who I’m arguing with here

Teachers and their union leadership have been talking about this issue of building affordable housing on district land for decades. This isn’t a new issue at all for them. They understand this issue well.

if they've been talking about it for decades, why doesn't it exist?

“why haven’t you fixed this” is my favorite thing to hear as I organize with people who are struggling to survive

no, I'm literally asking -- why does teacher housing not exist beyond the project or two in the pipeline even though it's been discussed for 20 years+ or so? What are all the project/financing impediments? Have you mapped them out?

Have you? I mean, HLC has a panel digging into this every year
