As a result of this unique process, SF's planning department reviews *FIVE* times as many projects as New York's planning department does every single year, according to the SF planning department head: https://www.planetizen.com/node/81148/crises-and-innovation-converge-san-francisco-planning-director-john-rahaims-watch …pic.twitter.com/uGhQvqLM5q

How much does it cost and how long does it take to build one unit of affordable housing? (About $700K and five years.) The odds of getting into them through the lotteries are also 1/5th of Harvard's admissions rate.https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Can-mayor-and-SF-supervisors-make-nice-to-build-14026610.php …

SF has only ever passed 2 affordable housing bonds in its history. One for $100M in 1996 and one for $310M in 2014. It's now going to ballot for $600M this November. You can do the math.https://www.sfexaminer.com/the-city/agreement-reached-over-novembers-600-million-affordable-housing-bond/ …

This is kind of silly. One project was delayed 46 days, another 101 days. It’s likely that funding them took a lot longer than this. It’s offensive that people oppose low-income housing, but a Charter Amendment is a bit much.

this is my basic question. requiring discretionary review of every project is crazy, but i don't understand why addressing that requires a charter amendment?
